We are already close to New Year’s Eve and we are already starting to think about the grapes, the champagne, our best clothes and the traditional chimes to welcome 2022. And while some are anxiously waiting to see what dress Cristina Pedroche will wear for the broadcast on Antena 3 from the Puerta del Sol in Madrid on the night of this coming December 31, or how Anne Igartiburu and Jacob Petrus will look on screen on TVE’s La 1, the popular streamer Ibai Llanos has everything ready to break the Internet again at the gates of a new year.

The chimes to welcome 2021 were quite atypical: a Puerta del Sol without people, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Beyond that, Ibai made a live broadcast on Twitch of the chimes for the first time in history, a transmission that reached 5.5 million total views, with a golden minute in which 552,345 users were connected to Ibai’s channel on Twitch at exactly 00:00 at night. It should be noted that those viewer figures actually reflected the number of devices connected at the time of transmission (whether tablets, mobile phones, computers or Smart TVs), since the audience at the person level was much more.

This is how the streamer, for this occasion and with a view to receiving 2022, has decided to take this whole experience to another level: he will broadcast the Chimes 2021 on the night of this Friday, December 31, from one of the balconies of the Puerta del Sol. Ibai has also explained on his Twitch channel that this year has received offers to simultaneously broadcast the event on one of the most important television channels in Spain, but has decided to focus on the streaming platform, also explaining that it has been common in recent months for different television channels to offer to broadcast their special events, such as the paddle tennis tournament or the balloon tournament. In those cases, Ibai’s response was the same: prioritize the broadcast on Twitch so as not to leave out any of the members of his community, regardless of the country they are in.

Thanks to the success of New Year’s Eve 2020, brands have turned to be part of an evening that promises to break new audience records on Twitch. Doritos, ColaCao, Domino’s Pizza and Movistar were part of this experience presented by the Bilbao content creator last year.

For this opportunity, only Domino’s repeats as a sponsor for New Year’s Eve this year compared to those who were sponsors in the historic 2020 broadcast.
