Laporta’s ‘levers’ lead Barça to a profit of 98 million

In addition to cleaning up the club’s financial situation and financing the signing of footballers such as Robert Lewandowski, the Barça team recorded a turnover of 1,017 million and a profit of 98 million in the 2021/2022 campaign.

The board of directors of the entity met this Monday to approve the accounts of last season. Marked by the economic hole caused by the coronavirus, the fiscal year -until June 30- was saved with the sale of 10% of La Liga’s television rights to the US fund Sixth Street on the last day of the exercise.

The club chaired by Joan Laporta received 207.5 million euros that generated a capital gain of 267 million thanks to the accounting maneuver of creating a new joint venture in which it also invested.

Barça expects record income for the 2022/2023 season

The effect of the sale of assets will be even more noticeable in the 2022/2023 campaign, when the divestment of another 15% of television rights -also in the hands of Sixth Street- will be accounted for, for which the club received another 300 million euros .

In addition, it will compute the sale of 49% of Barça Studios, the company that brings together audiovisual production and the blockchain business. The technology partner Socios.com and Jaume Roures, founder of Mediapro, bought 24.5% of the company each. Barcelona obtained 200 million with the operation.

In this way, the Catalan team designed a budget of 1,255 million revenues and 274 million profits; record figures powered by the famous Laporta levers.
