More than 4,000 workers sign up for the voluntary redundancy plan of El Corte Inglés

El Corte Inglés has concluded the staff reorganization plan, meeting the voluntary redundancy targets after more than 4,000 workers have signed up for it. since it was communicated to the unions and the pertinent negotiations began in a climate of social peace, according to what the company has highlighted.

El Corte Inglés has assured in a statement that “the number of employees who have joined the voluntary redundancy initiative has exceeded the initial figure of 3,292 people agreed by the company and the unions (CC.OO., CC.OO., by more than 20%). Fasga, Fetico and UGT)”, explaining that “from now on a process of analysis of applications, processing of voluntary withdrawals and adjustment of the staff begins”.

Those over 50 years of age have been left out of this plan, since they are the ones who, in principle, could find it more difficult to relocate. Those who have a temporary or single-day contract are also excluded.

Job search

El Corte Inglés now ensures that it will seek the best possible conditions for employees who have decided to leave the company and for this reason it has hired two prestigious companies (LHH and ManpowerGroup) to help outgoing workers find a new job based on your profile and professional interests.

The distribution giant will pay in both cases 33 days, with a maximum of 24 monthly payments, based on the salary on the date of termination and the variable incentives of 2019 for the sales group.

Likewise, between 5 and 10 years of seniority in the company there will be a payment of 5% of the gross annual salary. Between 10 and 15 years this percentage will rise to 10% and from 15 years to 20% of the gross annual salary.

forced departures

The company headed by Marta Álvarez had promised to reduce the number of people affected by 15% in the event that it was not covered by all the volunteers, thus reducing forced extinction processes by more than 500 people. Thus, in the event that there are not enough volunteers, the maximum number of outings will be 2,800 people.

Answer, May 23

Employees could voluntarily sign up in writing until April 23 and the company will have to reply before May 23. Employees with a disability of 33% or more, victims of gender violence or terrorism, people with minors with disabilities in their care or who are in charge of first-degree relatives with a serious illness are excluded from the exits.

Likewise, in the case of marriages or common-law couples, the leave plan may only affect one of the two spouses. The company will now have to analyze the departures, although it is likely that, except in specific cases, practically all of them can materialize.
