Roomi, an app that helps you find a roommate, raises a round of 2 million dollars

Roomi, an application that aims to help New Yorkers find the perfect roommateannounces the closure of one of €2 million owned by DCM Ventures. Big Oak Ventures, Sand Hill East, Jeff Dishner, Greg Kidd, Arihant Patni, Jeff Penney, and AngelList Consumer Fund.

Roomi works by allowing users looking for roommates to offer their apartment through the app. Once they have uploaded photos and filled out basic information about themselves, other users can navigate through the app to find an apartment that suits their needs or a roommate.

3,000 apartments in New York

So far the company has 3,000 apartments, all of them located in New York City. Whenever a user is interested in a certain rental, Roomi offers Courier services so that users can ask questions and set up appointments to see the apartments.

However, users already have extensive information beforehand, such as allergies to pets, smoking habits, whether you are an early riser or a night owl, etc. In essence, all characteristics that determine its compatibility with a roommate are answered initially, in order to avoid wasting time.

Roomi Objectives

For now, Roomi is totally gratuitousbut CEO and founder Ajay Yadav see the potential for generate income through services, such as online rent payment, identity verification and credit verification.
