ShopDisney: opinions and analysis of the new Disney online store

Disney opens ShopDisney (), the single ecommerce destination to buy Disney, Pixar, starwars and Marvel, and where fans of all ages can find their favorite collections of fashion, accessories, household items, toys… and much more!

Following its success in the US, ShopDisney now launches in five European markets (, , Italy, Spain and Germany) with a wide range of products that will attract all types of public without age limit. New categories have also been added to the online offer of various sections such as Fashion and Accessories, Toys and Baby, Home Y collectibles.

The products and collaborations with other brands will be the protagonists of ShopDisney. At launch, a collection of fashion, accessories, toys and home goods from brands including Samsonite, LEGO®, Clarks, IXXI, Swarovski, Funko, Danielle Nicole, Garmin and Couture Kingdom will be available. Other brand collaborations that fans will be able to see on the site starting this fall include Cath Kidston, Hype, Kipling and Musterbrand.

Carlos GaraboaGeneral Director of Disney Stores for Spain and Portugal, has pointed out that: «ShopDisney is the best online destination to find the best collection of Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel products from our Disney Store and partner brands… A website that will be attractive both for those of 3 and for those of 93!».

Let’s see how it works.

ShopDisney Overall Design

At first glance of the new Disney online store, its careful design, its simplicity and its careful photography are striking. All this under responsive parameters and optimal web usability, which get a well-organized and easy-to-use site. We can see a top menu by categories (products, characters, themes), which can also be accessed through different points on the main page.

What do we miss? Perhaps a little more play with color or typographic combinations, which would bring freshness and liveliness to the ecommerce.

Very complete product sheets

If there is something that we pay special attention to in an online store, it is the product sheets. How has ShopDisney organized them?

In a simple and very complete way, with the description of the product, price and information about it. We especially like that at the bottom of the tab appears a small menu with details about it, opinions and shipping information. It is usual that in other ecommerces this information is generally displayed at the bottom of the page, but not in the product sheet itself.

Purchase conditions

Other questions about the ShopDisney purchase conditions are the following:

  • Shipments: Shipping costs for Disney products are 5.90 euros in the Peninsula and 19.90 in the Canary Islands, although orders over 59.90 euros (in the Peninsula) or 90 euros (in the islands) are free. A figure perhaps a bit high if we compare it with that of other similar ecommerces.
  • Delivery times: Up to seven business days, although addresses with remote postcodes may take longer. Although the deadlines are within the stipulated in an online store of this type, they seem to us little fast in the case of a factory like Disney.
  • Extensive returns option: With a term of 30 days, ShopDisney’s is quite complete. They allow free returns except in those cases in which they are personalized products, selected collections or audio and video recordings. The return, through the web, of those items purchased in the factory’s theme parks is also not allowed.

Thus, although with purchase conditions that could be improved, the new Disney online store seems very complete, simple and intuitive for the user.
