Telefónica Tech: disruptive transformation and double-digit growth

Telefónica Tech continues to take steps forward to consolidate itself as the perfect partner to safely accompany companies in their digital transformation. Since its creation, in November 2019, as one of the pillars of Telefónica’s new strategic plan, Telefónica Tech has continuously strengthened its portfolio and has expanded its capabilities with the purchase of a total of seven companies specialized in the most cutting-edge technologies.

In these two and a half years, Telefónica Tech has gained international relevance and has become the leading company in digital transformation thanks to a wide range of services and integrated technological solutions in Cybersecurity, Cloud, IoT, Big Data, Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence. And, furthermore, it has continued advancing in its organic and inorganic growth strategy, registering double-digit growth above the market.

In these first six months of the year, Telefónica Tech has obtained revenues of 634 million euros, 72% more than in the same period of the previous year, and has made two new acquisitions (Incremental and BE-terna). In the last quarter alone, its turnover has reached 335 million euros, after registering a growth of 64.8%.

More international and more specialized

The recent acquisitions of Incremental and BE-terna, together with those of Govertis, iHackLabs, Cancom UK&I (now renamed Telefónica Tech UK&I), Altostratus and Geprom undertaken in previous years, place Telefónica Tech with more than 5,400 highly qualified professionals and technological specialization and with a great international projection.

Migration to the cloud has experienced tremendous growth in recent years as it is the first step in the digital transformation of a company. In this sense, the company has become the largest technology hub in southern Europe due to the alliances established with the main players in the cloud business and the acquisitions of companies specialized in its technologies. In March Telefónica Tech acquired , a leading digital transformation and data analytics company and partner of Microsoft, for up to £175 million to strengthen its leading position in the UK IT market. And in May the company also announced the purchase of Microsoft’s leading European cloud solutions provider with industry-specific solutions and an attractive customer base across multiple industries, for up to €350 million (including potential gains).

Previously, in 2020 the company acquired the consulting firm Govertis and the training and training company for cybersecurity professionals iHackLabs. And in 2021, coinciding with the acceleration of the digital transformation brought about by the pandemic, Telefónica Tech integrated (cloud company focused on SMEs belonging to Grupo Telefónica since 2011) and bought the Spanish company to reinforce its capabilities in Microsoft and Google Cloud, respectively. .
