The 15 most remembered car ads on our television

The world of automobiles and advertising are closely linked, and more so on television. Over the years there are many car advertisements that have remained in our memory, mainly due to their quality. In this gallery we offer you 15 of the most remembered commercials in the recent history of television.

Audi 100 Quattro (1986)

Legendary advertisement where there are, we were shown the brand new Audi Quattro, driven by rally driver Harald Demuth, going up a ski jumping springboard in Finland with an 80 percent slope to show us the excellence of its all-wheel drive. Years later the concept was repeated with the Audi A6 Quattro, for which the springboard had to be restored, which was literally falling apart.

Citroen AX (1988)

During the 1980s, Citroën’s advertising image was a small ‘Dalai Lama’ making the victory sign with his fingers next to the slogan ‘Great’. The remembered AX was the one that released this concept with this remembered spot.

Renault Clio Mechanical (1992)

The year of the Expo and the Barcelona Games was the year of the swan song of the most famous group of the eighties in our country: Mecano. Even so, the version that Renault released that year of the Clio, called precisely “Mecano”, and that Ana Torroja and the brothers Nacho and José María Cano strove to promote with this spot, is well remembered.

Renault Clio (1996)

Another myth of car advertising, the “Geropa” (actually “get up”) from James Brown’s mythical ‘Sex machine’ came to our most everyday speech thanks to this Renault ad, which was clear in those years that the music and the cars worked very well at the advertising level.

Ford Cougar (1997)

The favorite ad for several generations of car fans, it introduces us to the great Steve McQueen (who died of cancer in 1980) in a digital resurrection format, paying homage to two of his classics: The Great Escape (1963), with his famous motorcycle; and Bullitt (1968), with that legendary Mustang parked in his garage. Pure advertising magic.

Peugeot 106 (1998)

The Dutchman Mark Vanderloo was the best-known model in the nineties, and not only because of his marriage to our Esther Cañadas. In this famous spot he raised the temperature of many and many.

Mitsubishi Pajero (1998)

Another car advertising myth showed us an endearing goatherd catching up with a daring adventurer who had reached the deepest Spain driving his Montero. “And what about Madrid, European champions again?” it became a mythical phrase, although that same year the white team won their seventh European Cup, 32 years after their last triumph in the competition. The night that Mijatovic defeated Juventus in Turin with his goal, Mitsubishi, which had already withdrawn the campaign, broadcast the spot again, albeit with a congratulatory message to all Real Madrid fans. There is still class.

Galloper (2000)

The Galloper firm, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi, has always distinguished itself by making very funny spots, like this one in which we see an old man trying to make the world feat of reaching the South Pole in his Galloper. In the end he had to invite Georgie Dann himself, in one of the funniest appearances of the mythical Spanish-French summer singer.

In the midst of the triumphant era of Michael Schumacher at the controls of Ferrari, Fiat launched a special edition of the Fiat Seicento with the name of the German champion, and for this he made this delicious announcement.

Renault Megane GT (2007)

One of the most dreamy spots ever shot, set to the rhythm of a version of the music from the movie The Neverending Story, even the insufferable pianist Richard Clayderman appeared among bikini-clad cyclists and elephants.

Mercedes (2007)

A premonitory announcement of what was later the relationship between Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton we could see in this fun Mercedes spot, taking advantage of the presence of both at McLaren-Mercedes.

Peugeot 206 India (2009)

Another example of a great advertising campaign was that of 206, which showed us a young Indian who, fed up with his old car, tuned it up by hitting it against the walls, hammering it and even giving it shape by making an elephant sit on its body. In the end, he gets a 206 with which he becomes the ‘king of Bollywood’.

BMW X3 (2006)

Another spot that entered directly into the category of best car advertisements in history, shows us a philosophical Bruce Lee, far removed from his usual image of “delivery boy”, elucidating about the similarity of man with water, and in which the phrase “Be water my friend” became a cultural icon.
