The Government will change the name of the Atocha station to Atocha-Almudena Grandes

The Government will change the name of the Madrid station from Atocha to Atocha-Almudena Grandes as part of a plan that it plans to start before the end of the year to include the names of women in the country’s main train stations.

This was announced by the Minister of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, during her participation in an informative meeting organized by Europa Press, a few months after the name of Chamartín (Madrid) was also changed to Chamartín-Clara Campoamor.

“It is about making visible the Government’s commitment to gender equality. We will assign the names of women to the main stations in the country, in a gesture loaded with symbolism to remember the names of women that history has made invisible on many occasions,” he has advanced. .
