The return operation starts with gasoline at a minimum since February

The price of fuel gives drivers a break when they return home after the summer holidays. The latest available gasoline prices mark 1.59 euros/liter on average in the monoliths of Spain, the minimum since mid-February (yes, taking into account the discount of 20 cents approved by the Government).

And it is that since the beginning of summer, when it cost 1.90 euros/liter (2.10 euros without the bonus), the fuel chains weeks of decreases. In this summer return operation, filling an average 55-liter tank with gasoline will cost the consumer about 87 euros, although we are still talking about 10 euros more than a year ago and 23 euros more than two years ago.

Diesel costs an average of 1.67 euros/liter today, according to the latest data provided by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge. To fill an average tank of diesel, the driver will have to pay 92 euros in total. In your case, it would be 23 euros more than in 2021 and 34 euros more than in 2020.

Autonomous communities

Among the autonomous communities of the country, the Balearic Islands have the most expensive gasoline, reaching 1.65 euros/liter on average, including a government discount. They are followed by Asturias and La Rioja (both with a price of 1.64 euros/litre), as well as Cantabria, Galicia and the Basque Country (1.63 euros/litre).

The cheapest prices are found in the communities of Aragón and Murcia (1.58 euros/litre). They are followed by Catalonia and Extremadura (1.59 euros/litre). All this, of course, without taking into account the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla, which lower the national average due to the existence of special taxes.

additional discounts

In the last year, marked by the unstoppable escalation of fuel prices, the main oil companies have launched to offer extra discounts for their customers. This is the case of firms such as Repsol, Cepsa, BP or Galp.

Repsol will maintain the discounts at more than its 3,300 service stations in Spain until after the summer. In this way, private customers who use the free Waylet application will be able to benefit from an additional 10 cents discount.

Cepsa also offers different discounts that can be added to the bonus. Until December, any private customer can access a discount of an additional 10 cents offered by the company with the only requirement of being a member of the Porque Tú Vuelves program. This, added to the discounts that the company already offers, through the alliances it maintains with Carrefour and Wizink, would imply added discounts of up to 20 cents, achieving savings of up to 50 cents per liter.

The British BP has decided to extend the discount to all individuals who refuel at its entire network of service stations up to 20 cents per liter until September.

The Portuguese Galp, for its part, offers an additional discount of 10 cents until the end of the year, which with the discount would reach 30 cents per liter. Savings of up to 25 cents (45 with bonus) for users who sign up for the Mundo Galp loyalty program.
