These are the best pillows on the market for less than 30 euros, according to OCU

Choosing a good pillow is not just a matter of comfort. This must adapt to our body and our posture, in such a way that it guarantees rest.

To choose the right one, it is necessary to take several aspects into account, such as the position in which you sleep (those who sleep on their sides need higher ones than those who sleep on their backs or stomachs), the body constitution (small people need lower pillows) or the hardness of the mattress (the harder it is, the higher the pillow will be required).

In addition to the height, it is also important to take into account the material with which they are made. Thus, the viscoelastic and foam ones mold to the shape of the head and neck, the fiber ones stand out for being cooler, the latex ones, by better holding the head, are more suitable for corpulent people, or the feather ones for who sleep face down. There are also others, such as the cervical ones, which favor a correct alignment between the spine, neck and head (interesting for those who suffer from discomfort in the neck muscles) or the modular ones, which allow their height to be adjusted by adding and removing layers.

To facilitate the decision, from the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) they have carried out an analysis of 15 models that are sold in the market. “And, although apparently they may seem very different due to their composition, in practice they turn out to be very similar,” highlights the organization.

After its analysis, OCU highlights two products below 30 euros: the Carrefour Home Visco Comfort pillow (70 cm) and the high IKEA Skogsfräken (75 cm).

– Carrefour Home Visco Confort (70 cm): this is a visco pillow of medium intensity and a good price (26 euros), with satisfactory results in adaptability, except for small people who sleep on their backs. Users value the height well, even if it is not adjustable. However, it does not indicate width and height measurements and takes time to dry.

– IKEA Skogsfräken high (75 cm): this pillow is made of holofiber and works well together, including on small people. It has good durability and evaporates moisture well. However, it is 5 centimeters less wide than advertised and shows a slight pressure point. It costs 15 euros.

How to know if a pillow is suitable

From the organization they advise to try the pillow always before opting for one. And when doing so, it is convenient not to focus so much on the comfort or fluffiness of the pillow, but on keeping the head in a correct posture. If you sleep on your side, your head should be slightly raised; if it is done on its back, it should sink a little more. In addition, in the case of viscoelastic, it must be verified that it also includes a washable cover of a suitable material.
