What is Gamestry?

Gamestry was founded by the people of Barcelona Alejo and Guillermo Torrens in 2018, with the idea of ​​offering a platform to publish content in video format focused on video games. Thus, it proposes a platform with the specialization of Twitter in the gamer field, but using the dominant content format of Youtube. Similarly, another of the objectives of this video platform is to provide content creators a monetization option “more transparent and beneficial”as stated by Guillermo, CEO of the company:

«Today, the main video platforms generate a lot of uncertainty for creators, leaving these at the expense of an opaque algorithm rewarding sensational content and receiving a small portion of the revenue generated. Following this line, Gamestry plans to use this new investment to strengthen its position in the markets of Latin America and Spain, as well as reinforce its tools to help users find quality content and also continue working on its mobile application.

On the other hand, although the main content of the platform is related to video games, it also promotes other content by its creators. For example, it has a special section called Meet The Creator, that shows interviews with content creators. Likewise, it has a section called IRL, or In real life, where we can find vlogs or prank videos, giving the platform some diversity.

Gamestry currently has 23 employees and has more than 2,000 active creators on its platform. 4 million active users per month and 35 million monthly views. “This new investment will help us accelerate our growth and strengthen our position in the Spanish and Latin American market”Torrens stated.

How to be a creator on Gamestry

One of the main attractions of Gamestry is its monetization offer for creators, which in the case of Spain is set at an RPV (revenue per visit) of $8.10 per 1,000 visits. And for this, it has a system that focuses on rewarding the effort and quality of the content, as well as the reception of the community, before advertising. Thus all videos, whether they have advertising or not, will be eligible to be monetizedprovided that they meet certain conditions, such as that their duration is greater than eight minutes, or that the viewing time of the visit exceeds 30 seconds.

On the other hand the amount of income received for each visit, or VPN for its acronym in English, which is received from the video will depend on the time viewed. As we said, although all views are counted, only those with a duration greater than 31 seconds will be monetized. Then, the amount of income will depend on how much viewing time you have, if they are between 31 to 300 seconds they will receive 50% of the RPV, and if they go from 301 to the end of the video they will be monetized by 100% of the PRV.
