This is Iryo, the new competition for Renfe that will start in 2022 with routes to Barcelona, ​​Seville and Valencia

In the final stretch of closing 2021, the year that brought the rail travel business, the official arrival of a new player in the market has been announced. , the name under which the Valencian company Ilsa will operate, has been presented these days at the Atocha station to show all the details of what will be the first private high-speed operator in Spain.

With a distinctive red color, Iryo is very close to being a reality in the rail mobility business. It will be during the second half of 2022, still without a precise date, when it begins to move its machinery to introduce a company that competes directly with Renfe and Ouigo.

With the participation of the airline Air Nostrum and the transalpine railway Trenitalia, Iryo aspires to capture 30% of the high-speed frequencies, for which it will offer almost a hundred ships distributed on the three main national routes. With bases in Madrid, 32 connections (16 one way and 16 return) will go to Zaragoza and Barcelona, ​​as many will go to Valencia and Alicante and the same number will go to connect Seville, Malaga and Córdoba with the Spanish capital.

This was announced by the group in their presentation on the historic tropical garden of Atocha, where they also showed the public what their trains will be, ready to lay the foundations for future expansion. Some ETR 1000 model ships (Frecciarossa), present in several European countries, and which stand out for measuring around 200 meters with a capacity for almost 500 passengers and a top speed of 360 kilometers per hour.

In addition, these trains stand out for being made with 95% recyclable materials, thanks to the management of Hitachi Rail and Alstom carried out between Spain and Italy. With hardly any noise pollution, as stated by the Valencian group, each journey will save 80% of carbon dioxide.

Iryo intends to create more than 2,500 jobs directly and indirectly during its first years of life

Finally, it should be noted that the project has already involved an investment of 1,000 million euros, in terms of fleet and start of activity, but with which it is intended to attract more than 50 million passengers in 10 years. This translates into the generation of 2,600 jobs “setting a new standard for what it means to travel by High Speed ​​in Spain and making a firm commitment to multimodality”, as the group has outlined.

A new way of traveling by train in Spain, which will arrive in less than a year, and under the insignia of the red color aims to give war to Renfe and Ouigo in a fast, sustainable and silent plan.
