The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has launched a health alert regarding the presence of The affected product was found in Andalusia, but was distributed to all the autonomous communities.

AESAN explains that no case associated with this alert has been confirmed in Spain. Thus, it recommends that people who have the products included in this alert at home refrain from consuming them and return them to the point of purchase. However, if it has been consumed, it is recommended to go to the doctor if symptoms compatible with listeriosis appear (vomiting, diarrhea or fever).

What are the symptoms of listeriosis?

Listeriosis is an infection caused by the bacterium ‘Listeria monocytogenes’ which is rare but serious when it occurs and with high admission and mortality rates. Symptoms can range from mild, with a flu-like illness, or nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, to more serious infections, including meningitis, sepsis, and other life-threatening complications.
