One of the requirements to collect the contributory unemployment benefit, better known as unemployment, is to have reached at least one year of prior contribution. People who do not reach this contribution are not left uncovered, but they will be entitled to different help.
This has been explained by the Public State Employment Service (SEPE), where it has reported that there is a subsidy for insufficient contributions from which people who have not contributed enough to be entitled to unemployment can benefit.
This subsidy for insufficient contributions also has its own requirements. To begin with, the contribution: 90 days of contributions are required if the beneficiary has family responsibilities and 180 days if he does not.
In addition, it is essential to be unemployed and in a legal situation of unemployment, be registered as a job seeker, have signed the activity commitment and receive monthly income below 75% of the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI).
The SEPE informs that if the beneficiary does not meet the requirements at the time of the causative event but does meet them later, as long as he does so within one year, he will be entitled to receive this aid. The requirements must be met at the time of approval and extensions, if requested.
If the potential beneficiary is over 52 years of age, they will have to request the while, while people who interrupt a benefit or an unemployment subsidy to work for less than a year, may request the resumption of the benefit.
How long does it last and what is its amount?
the duration of the subsidy “depends on the number of months contributed and whether or not you have family responsibilities”:
-If you do not have family responsibilities, the subsidy lasts six months, provided you meet the requirements.
-If you have family responsibilities and have contributed for three, four or five months, you will be entitled to a subsidy for three, four or five months, respectively.
-If you have family responsibilities and have contributed for six months or more, the subsidy will be for up to 21 months, although six months will be recognized at the beginning and then it will be extended in periods of six more months.
The amount of the aid is 80% of the Iprem (Multiple Effects Public Income Indicator), which for 2021 is 451.92 euros per month.
