We are exposed every day at any time to a large number of advertising messages, however, outdoor advertising is still presented as a great ally for branding strategies, and due to their flexibility they allow to express with great creativity the campaigns since they can be adapted to almost any surface, however large or small, and even cover an entire building, while the quality of the print is not lost.

Some banner ad campaigns have shown exceptional quality and creativitymanaging to be placed among the best in history.
These examples combine a good job of sending the message, an exceptional design that manages to reinforce the visual impact on viewers by combining legibility, memorability and the great power of attraction.
1. The sky is the limit
One of the key factors of many of the best advertising banner campaigns is to match the environment, and this example is the best: to publicize the finish of its tones in the United States, Pinturas Berger managed to perfectly imitate the blue tone of the sky in this simple banner design, but with a powerful visual message.
2. Flight of a Dragon
HBO took the publicity of its Game of Thrones series to the top with this advertising canvas on a building in Los Angeles, United States. The shadow of a dragon passes through the windows simulating that it is approaching the big city.
3. Making the canvas part of the creativity
This Dove campaign in which the canvas has a dual purpose: printing advertising and taking advantage of its texture to manipulate the result by passing it through the model’s towel. An effect that is enhanced by being able to integrate it into a corner of this building, slightly separating the typography from the visual message to enhance the effect.
4. Taking advantage of external elements
As we mentioned, playing with the environment in which the banner will be placed is essential to achieve that extra effect in some campaigns. Another example is this TV commercial for the Law & Order series in which a suspect is lying under the detective’s light, taking advantage of the night light.

This giant canvas allows you to use an entire side of the building to play with 3D effects due to its large format. Creativity to show “how great it is to be small” has managed to cross borders.

It’s just an impression, but this Heineken banner makes it look like a huge hand behind the banner is reaching out of the building to get the prized bottle.
8. Breaking the rectangular format
No, those windows are not part of the building even though it looks that way. This is the Coca Cola advertising canvas that manages to create a perfect effect with the background, making it appear that the neighbors enjoy its flavor.
9. Give your campaigns a cable
A tarp… and some power lines: with this advertisement Panasonic in Indonesia advertised its nose hair trimmer, adding a comical touch to its campaign.
10. Open your ad
The Olditmer restaurant took full advantage of this tunnel. The message is clear: eat as much as you can at the next stop…even cars.
Bonus track: Schweppes and KFC
of betting on the change of habits related to the different restrictions that Spain went through during the pandemic is this case of Schweppes.
