Zign will be a fully sustainable brand

To kick off its plan as a zero carbon company, Zalando has switched to more than 90% renewable energy in its buildings this yearand assured that the remaining carbon emissions that cannot be eliminated in its operations will be compensated.

Carbon offsetting involves helping finance emission reductions elsewhere, such as helping to prevent deforestation.

Currently, Zalando boxes are made from 100% recycled materialsas well as the shipping bags, which are 80% made with recycled plastics, while the beauty bags are made from 100% recycled paper.

As part of Zalando’s Commitment to becoming a zero carbon company, the company commits that its private label Zign will be fully sustainable in 2020. In fact, for its upcoming Spring/Summer season, Zign will feature all of its items, including clothing, shoes and accessories, bearing the Zalando sustainability banner.

In addition, Zalando expects by the end of this same 2019 to extend the useful life of one million items through its resale platform. Zalando Wardrobeand by 2023 increase this figure to reach 50 million items.
