The feed on Facebook changes again and will prioritize posts from your friends

The horror story for those of us who create content on Facebook never ends. The team at has announced that it will be making a big change to the newsfeed on Facebook, favoring posts from your friends over those from brands, media and publishers.

The new Facebook feed rule

which was driven by Adam Mosseri (VP of Products and News Feed), determines that “friends and family come first.” This certainly affects all content generators.

And well, although this may seem unfortunate and difficult to some extent, it will raise the bar for content generators, in the strict sense of generating content that tends to really be attractive for sharing.

That would undoubtedly favor the news and entertainment industry, but it would subtract points from content on public policies, environmental conservation… among other topics that require a little more analytical capacity when reading. The feed on Facebook will prioritize the posts of friends with whom you have the most interaction, so that you can be informed and entertained at the same time.

Of course, the goal is that all these stories of the more than 1,600 million users ‘invite’ their contacts to stay longer and participate more within the social network, because without a doubt when it comes to content, the sharing that done from Facebook is the most effective.

It is not the only “feed” that changes

This is not the only change in the feed on Facebook, or rather, within the series of ‘feeds’ that exist in the social network. This happens with FacebookEvents, (own or companies), is one of the functions or internal applications perhaps most used by users.

For a few days, Facebook users in iOS, specifically in the USthey will be able to see the ‘Featured Events’ option in a carousel format at the top of their feed.

It will be, without more or less, a selection (or if you prefer, curation) of events by the Facebook team, these events being displayed by each city (and obviously, shown by your geolocation and IP). In this way we will see events of art, entertainment, family, festivals, sports, among others.

What do you think of this change in the feed on Facebook? Are you for or against?
