ABEX brings to Spain an ‘App’ that connects the surgeon with the Da Vinci robot in full competition with Hugo

ABEX, a Spanish company that is responsible for marketing the well-known Da Vinci robot in the Iberian Peninsula, implements a mobile application (My Intuitive App) that connects the surgeon with Da Vinci technology. With the launch of the ‘App’, they will search for , which arrived in Spain last October at the hands of the Irish Medtronic and is articulated as its only competition to date.

Until the arrival of Hugo, Da Vinci (manufactured by the Californian company Intuitive Surgical) was the only device with a presence on the market. The historic robot was approved in 2000 by the FDA in the United States and its price ranges between two and three million euros. The new application developed by the Californian company will maximize the knowledge and performance of specialists’ interventions and the interconnection of data and information between the da Vinci surgical system and the App, among many other functions.

Any robotic surgeon who operates with the da Vinci system will be able to register in the new tool and insert their data, once saved, in the console of any equipment to facilitate the operative process. Specialists will be able to access the history of their interventions thanks to the Case Report function, which provides them with a large amount of precise data and with which they will be able to acquire new knowledge and improve their performance thanks to the experiences of other professionals.

Europe represents the second zone of use of the Da Vinci robotic system, only behind the United States. “After the United States, where there are more than 3,000 Da Vinci robotic systems, Europe represents the main area of use with more than 900 robotic systems in activity. Spain, in this regard, is among the five European markets with the highest number of Da Vinci surgical systems installed, behind France, Italy, England and Germany”, they explained from the company.
