The Aldi supermarket chain continues with its expansion plan in Spain and will open four new supermarkets in one month: two in the city of Barcelona and the other two in Malaga and Andoain (Guipúzcoa).
In total, the four openings will employ around 60 collaborators and will allow Aldi to exceed 360 supermarkets in the country.
The supermarket chain maintains its goal of expanding its presence in Catalonia and will open two new stores in the Catalan capital next month.
Specifically, the company will open a new store on 115 Sepúlveda Street on March 23, which will have nearly 700 m2 of commercial space and a staff of 15 collaborators.
On April 20, Aldi will open another supermarket at 191 Paseo de la Zona Franca, with a sales room of more than 1,200 m2 and a team of about 15 employees. With both inaugurations, Aldi will add a total of 12 establishments in the city of Barcelona.
On April 6, Aldi will open a new establishment in the capital of Malaga. This new store will be located at Avenida Ortega y Gasset, 291, will have a commercial area of more than 1,000 m2 and will have a team of 13 workers. With this opening, the supermarket chain will reach 26 supermarkets in the province.
On the same day, the company opens its first supermarket in Andoain, the fourth in Guipúzcoa. The store, located at Avenida Illarramendi 1, will have a sales room of more than 1,100 m2 and a staff of 16 collaborators.
Expansion plan
These openings are part of Aldi’s expansion plan for this 2022, which includes the i, and which highlights its arrival in the Canary Islands and the opening of its first establishment in Asturias.
To support its growth in the country, the company also plans to hire more than 600 collaborators during the first half of 2022.
With a discount-based business model, Aldi has nearly 360 supermarkets in Spain that employ 6,000 people. Among its brands are El Mercado, El Horno, Milsani, GutBio, La Tabla or Special.
