Aludium expands its production in Alicante, where it foresees 200 million euros this year

The group dedicated to the manufacture of aluminum laminates Aludium, controlled by Atlas Group, continues with its plans to expand the activity of the old Alcoa factory in Alicante. has allocated 12.5 million euros to replace the rolling mill that was affected by a fire a year ago and is preparing new investments.

The new rolling mill, in which it has worked with Siemens, also allows it to increase its capacity by 6,000 tons per year and increase the quality of the products. The industrial facility that guarantees the 300 jobs at the Alicante plant also represents a competitive improvement, since it cuts energy costs and generates a 12% reduction in waste.

Precisely this energy improvement and the good evolution of the price of aluminum, which the factory transforms for use in different sectors, from packaging to construction, has allowed the group and the Alicante plant to avoid the production stoppages of some large industries.

In fact, the Alicante plant expects to place its business volume above 200 million euros this year, compared to 150 million in 2021. An improvement that will also be reflected in its profitability, going from 35 to 50 million euros in its gross operating profit (ebitda), according to the director of the Alicante plant, José Ignacio Juan Planelles.

In addition, the group plans to build new smelting furnaces to replace the smaller ones, which the company considers will mean new hiring in the last quarter of 2023.
