eCommerce already generates 45% of Seur’s turnover – Marketing 4 Ecommerce – Your online marketing magazine for e-commerce

closed 2020 with a turnover of 833 million eurosregistering a growth of 19% compared to the previous year, mainly due to the strong growth of e-commerce after the arrival of the coronavirus; the volume of international business and the increase in online food sales through services such as cold SEUR. Throughout the year, the number of shipments increased by 38% to reach 101 million.

In a year that has been strongly marked by the pandemic, eCommerce has meant 376 million euros for the company, with a historic growth of 50% compared to 2019, and already reaching 45% of total turnover. For its part, international sales already represent thirty percent of revenues, reaching 250 million euros.

“The pandemic has had a great impact on our sector due to changes in consumer purchasing habits, especially in the field of electronic commerce, which have caused unprecedented increases in volumes since the beginning of the health crisis. Thanks to the efforts of our professionals, who have been at the forefront, we have been able to adapt in record time to these levels of production from a technological and operational point of view, with the opening of 21 new facilities, and from a safety point of view, implementing the Zero Contact deliveries. Without a doubt, 2020 will be remembered as the year in which it has been shown that transport and logistics are essential for society”, Explain Albert Navarro, CEO of SEUR.

In order to meet this high demand, the company reinforced its workforce with 4,100 new professionals during 2020 throughout Spain, 2,000 to face the first months after the declaration of the State of Alarm and another 2,100 who joined for the Christmas Campaign.

More than 250 million euros of investment until 2025

As the company has explained, «an investment plan has been drawn up until 2025 with which new technological developments will be carried out that have an impact on daily operations and on the relationship with customers, on adapting the facilities to the growth of the business, and on strengthening the commitment to sustainability and the environment.

In this way, the company has already announced the beginning of the works of its new transfer center in Miranda de Ebro, which will help improve its operational capacity and will generate 200 new jobs. This opening will be added to a long list of initiatives that will be launched in the next 5 years and those already opened in 2020, among which Segovia, Guadalajara, Santiago de Compostela and the new SEUR Logística warehouse in Illescaswhose opening took place in June, in full de-escalation.

The company’s commitment is also focused on continuing to develop solutions that optimize the last Millesuch like your pickup network, made up of 2,500 convenience stores and lockers, which in addition to providing greater flexibility to our customers, help reduce the emissions generated in delivery by 63%.

Objective 2025: to be the most sustainable company in the sector

SEUR has set itself the goal of reducing the emissions generated per package by 30% by 2025, for which will be done in 2025 a 100% ecological distribution in 20 Spanish cities. An ambitious program that will be developed with the incorporation of 500 electric or natural gas vehicles, the development of route optimization projects, the creation of a network of 103 recharging points and the opening of another 2,500 points in the Pickup network. The implementation of this program expects to reduce CO₂ emissions in these cities by 51%.
