After a difficult end of 2021, in which the main energies increased considerably, the beginning of 2022 has not brought better news and thus, gas, gasoline, butane or electricity continue to increase. The latter, being of great concern to , due to the hard blow it represents for his pocket, has raised its price even more. For this reason, it is vital to know when it is more profitable to use certain appliances (iron, washing machine, dishwasher, oven…) since their consumption can vary, resulting in significant savings.
As shown by the data from the (OMIE), the organization that manages the electricity markets of Spain and Portugal and collects their rates, the average price of electricity in Spain during this Saturday, February 26, is 261.11 euros/ MWh. Very high figures when compared to the price set a year ago, when the MWh cost 27.88 euros.
At what time is electricity cheaper?
Regarding the daily variation, the cheapest sections are concentrated in the early hours of the day. It is between 5:00 and 6:00 when the price is at its lowest curve to settle at 237.14 euros/MWh.
At what time is electricity more expensive?
On the contrary, the central hours of the morning as well as those closest to dusk represent the highest cost, reaching 300.7 euros/MWh between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

Why does the price of electricity vary so much?
This constant increase in prices, as well as its variation, is due to the higher cost of gas in international markets, which is used in combined cycle plants. As these are the most expensive, they are the ones that, in general, mark the price in most hours.
Direct consequence of the conflict with a supplying Russia, the price has risen in the last few hours, which affects the pockets of consumers on the electricity bill.
