It happened in Westfalen (Germany). A cashier accepted payment for four packs of cigarettes with a €30 note and even returned the ‘correct’ change.
The author of this fraud, which was echoed on his blog, assures that he found the ticket on the street, thought it was a joke article and kept it to show it to his wife. However, hours later, he used it to pay for cigarettes at the store “by mistake”.
Like a 20, only 30
The bill in question was a good quality forgery as reported by the German newspaper. Good paper and same look and size as a regular €20 note, except that instead of 20, the number on the paper was 30. By the time the cashier realized the mistake it was too late.
The events, which occurred in 2013, left the German Police disconcerted, who did not fully understand this type of forgery with an impossible amount for a ticket in circulation.
