How to give Social Security your new address if you’ve moved

If the citizen changes his address, he must know that he probably needs an extra procedure apart from all those that a move usually implies. Or, at least, if it maintains a fluid relationship with Social Security, since the agency needs to have updated information on all its affiliates.

The reason is that sometimes Social Security has to send communications to the citizen’s home () and, if that address is not updated, said communication cannot be carried out successfully. For this reason, just as it is notified to be able to carry out procedures via SMS, it is advisable to inform the body of changes in our address if we move house. There are two ways to do it.

How to change the address through Import@ss

The first one is through Import@ss, the . The platform allows the user to change their address and update it with the new one in the ‘Personal data’ section. You will simply have to correctly enter the street, number, floor, postal code, town and province.

The only thing that the citizen will need, yes, is to have one of the means of access: digital certificate (), Cl@ve () or via SMS if the telephone number has been registered in the Social Security database. .

How to change the address with the TA.1 model

In the event that they do not have any of these access methods, the citizen has the option of completing the procedure without having to go to them: to do so, they will need to fill out two different documents: the TA.1 model and the form for submitting documents, requests and communications to Social Security.

The first step is to properly fill in the TA.1 model, which is the form that must be filled out in the event of a notification of modification of personal data. This model can be downloaded completely free of charge.

In this form you will have to enter your name, surnames, sex, DNI or NIE, Social Security Number, date of birth, name of the father and mother, as well as the town, province and country of birth. Next, you will need to enter the new address.

In the ‘Data relating to the request’ section, you must choose ‘Data variation’ and explain the reason for the communication, which is the change of address. At this time you can attach a document that proves the change of housing (a photocopy of the rental or purchase contract or a photocopy of the register).

Finally, in ‘Data relating to the notification’, the interested party must indicate that their address is the one entered previously. When you do, sign and indicate the date and place where the form is made.

With the TA.1 form completed, you must fill in the Presentation of other Documents, Requests and Communications. Here you will also have to provide name, surnames, DNI, telephone number, postal code and email.

Subsequently, you will have to indicate the organization to which you wish to apply. To do this, you must choose your province and then the category of the procedure (‘Citizen/Worker’) and what procedure you wish to carry out (‘Data variation’). If you wish, you can extend your request explaining the reason for the communication in a communications section.

Together with this form, the previously completed TA.1 model must be attached. Finally, answer the security question and click ‘Continue’.
