Intermediate gamification course #1. Badges – .com

In the first class of the intermediate gamification course we are going to see how to award badges to users who have achieved certain milestones.

The badges are awarded based on the type of actions carried out by users, as if they were boy-scout medals: For being the one who visits the web the most, for being the one who comments the most, etc. And they also have levels!

We are going to see how to establish those medals or badges, as well as the different levels of each of them. Let us begin!

Imagination to power, as you can see! We can now create all kinds of medals for the different actions carried out by users, and we can even give them internal levels.

For example, I propose to create the following:

  • Commentator Badge:
    • Bronze level: More than 100 comments.
    • Silver level: More than 500 comments.
    • Gold level: More than 1,000 comments.
  • Badge to the most constant:
    • Bronze level: More than 10 days visiting the web.
    • Silver level: More than 100 days visiting the web.
    • Gold level: More than 1,000 days visiting the web.
  • Badge to the most creator:
    • Bronze level: More than 10 published posts.
    • Silver level: More than 100 published posts.
    • Gold level: More than 1,000 published posts.

As you can see, the idea is the same as in the case of the boy-scouts, but instead of getting the medals for those who have sold the most cookies, or those who have helped the most elderly people to cross the street, in this case We can gamify any action that we saw in the basic course. Not bad, right?
