The future of Google Glass glasses – Marketing 4 Ecommerce – Your online marketing magazine for e-commerce

At the end of Google I/O 2015, held in San Francisco at the end of May 2015, Astro Teller -scientist and entrepreneur who leads the laboratory of Google Secret Projects, by name «Google X»- gave a talk where he assured that the future of Google Glass glasses is solid and is coming; itself, the scientist and entrepreneur affirms that in Google X I know “they are making really good progress«.

At the beginning of the year, Google canceled the program “GlassExplorer”, which meant the end of the marketing of this wearable, and the separation of the same project from the Google X division to become an independent branch. However, Eric Shmidt (Google’s CEO) calmed the industry in March, asserting that Google Glass “is a big and fundamental platform for Google”, arguing that the cancellation of Explorer does not mean that the project is canceled.

Reiterating on that same point, Teller affirmed that the «Google Glass glasses have graduated from Google X, and more will be heard about them«. Something that should be commented on is that, by way of self-criticism, he affirmed that a good decision was made to make them independent, but a bad internal decision was also made by taking the product out to the public -albeit in a limited way-, when in itself it was not a finished product but a prototype, which caused confusion and to some degree, dissatisfaction.

That is why Teller delves into commenting that it is «need to fail to move forward«, as he defends that «if we are going to build something we need to fail and do it quickly so that we can learn quickly». This in allusion and reflection to aspire to make a better world from a new and own perspective.
