This is Sylt: a visit to the Germany of luxury and ostentation

Sylt is known as the Queen of the North Sea. It is the largest of the Frisian Islands, with a dimension of only 100 square kilometers. This island has been compared on many occasions to the famous Hamptons of New York, due to the number of rich and famous who spend their summer vacations on it.

Luxury is concentrated on this unparalleled island. In addition to green meadows and truly bucolic landscapes, Sylt has the best beaches in Europe. In fact, its high white sand dunes are part of the World Heritage Sites awarded by Unesco.

The island is only 38 kilometers long, so touring it in one day is very easy. To locate it we just have to stand in front of the border between Denmark and Germany.

Difficult access to the island of Sylt

Perhaps that mysterious halo that accompanies the island of Sylt is due to its difficulty in accessing it. From Germany it is possible to reach Sylt through the railway corridor from the beginning of the 20th century. This access only allows you to arrive by train, where you can board the car. Another option is to arrive by air, but flights are scarce. Finally, if you are in Denmark, it is also possible to take the ferry to the island.

Upon arrival, the first thing you will perceive is the charm of a place where luxuries number in the thousands. In Sylt there are plenty of cars, to enjoy the authentic native nature. Although it is also true that its most emblematic streets are full of state-of-the-art cars. Luxury stores are perfectly integrated into this island, offering visiting millionaires all the latest products.

Of the four villages or neighborhoods that hide on Sylt, Kampen is the most luxurious. This is where a large part of the premium stores are located and where more luxury cars can be seen per square meter. Westerland, however, is the capital. Here it is possible to access a large part of the island’s services.
