This is the CIPA, the number you need to request the self-appointment of the vaccine

Vaccination of people under 39 years of age is being carried out through a self-citation system in several autonomous communities. This is the case of the Community of Madrid, where the CIPA number is needed to access the service. However, it can also be accessed through other documents such as the DNI or passport.

What is the CIPA number

The CIPA is a 10-digit number found on the individual health card, as shown in the photo. This is the Autonomous Personal Identification Code, a number assigned to each citizen that is unique for the entire national health system. Its objective is the homogeneous identification of each person before all public health services.

The general management of this identification is entrusted to the Autonomous Communities (CCAA), who provide each person holding the card with their own Personal Identification Code for each territorial area. This code, explains the Ministry of Health, has as its main task to ensure the biunivocal association of the person with their administrative and clinical information within each Autonomous Community.

How to request the self-appointment to get vaccinated in Madrid

The self-appointment is requested through or through the virtual health card. And the procedure will be as follows.

1. Enter your CIPA (Autonomous Personal Identification Code of the public health card), DNI/NIE or passport and add your date of birth.

2. The system checks if the user is registered in the population repository of the Community of Madrid databases. Similarly, it is verified that the patient does not have any vaccine registered in the Single Vaccination Registry (RUV). And that it is in the enabled age range.

3. Once the checks have been made, the system will show you a list of available centers according to the age range or vaccination group, and you will be able to choose the center and time interval.

4. Once you have made your choice, the days with the available slots will appear, 48/72 hours in advance and with an initial options window of one week.

5. You have to choose the day and the slot available and the self-citation system will show all the details of your choice. Once the appointment is selected, you will receive a verification code through an SMS system to proceed with its confirmation.

6. Next, your appointment data will appear along with a QR to facilitate your access to the vaccination point. In addition, the citizen will receive a reminder SMS, at least 24 hours in advance, which will include the QR code that must be shown when accessing the vaccination site.

What happens if I do not appear in the database of the Community of Madrid

If any person who accesses the new self-citation system of the Ministry of Health is not in the database and cannot self-citation, they must call the free telephone number provided by the Community of Madrid (900 102 112), where the operator will collect your data and will transfer this information to the Madrid health service for verification in the municipal register and rest of the information bases of the Community of Madrid.
