WhatsApp announced new features to improve the privacy of the social network – Marketing 4 Ecommerce – Your online marketing magazine for e-commerce

At a time in the virtual world when privacy of users becomes increasingly relevant, Mark announced that the messaging application, WhatsApp add to three new features to improve that aspect: the ability to silently leave groups, prevent screenshots once messages are sent, and control who can see when you’re online.

The businessman gave notice to users through a Facebook post, and clarified that “We will continue to build new ways to protect your messages and keep them as private and secure as face-to-face conversations.”

What will the new features of WhatsApp be like?

The novelty is very recent and it is expected that two of the three options will be available throughout August 2022 -no exact implementation date-. In detail, these are the new options that you will have in your app:

  • Quietly leave groups: you will be able to leave a group privately (only administrators will be notified). This feature starts rolling out to all users this month.
  • Choose who can see when you’re online: you will be able to select who can and cannot see when you are online. This feature will start rolling out to everyone this month.
  • Block screenshots for messages set to view once: See-once messaging is already a very popular way to share photos or videos that you don’t want to be saved permanently. Now, WhatsApp is also going to enable the function of blocking captures in these types of messages to add an additional layer of protection. This feature is currently being tested and is expected to be released soon.

A social network with constant updates
