1927. Business idea: Soccer team led by the public – .com

Today we are looking at a rather alternative and crazy business idea: A soccer team run by the public through an app.

But first, remember that yesterday we launched the , in which today we will see the SEO strategy and optimization elements.

Also remember that on Thursday, October 21 at 11:11 AM we have a meeting to talk about webinars: Types, objectives, how to do them, how they convert more, tools, different types of CTAs, and much more. 🙂

And now, without further ado, let’s go for the business idea, which I have to confess is quite crazy and a bit surreal. But one of those that if it goes well, it can have a lot of potential.

And despite how strange it may sound to “buy a football team” to create an application and that all the partners decide, it has gained a lot of strength. Here is part of the dialogue that has been generated:

You see! You imagine? XD It would be news! XD But how much can a team like this cost? I have no idea!

————————-

Joan, well, I really don’t know! I understand that whatever they want to ask you… Even so, for example, the budget of a top regional team for a season is between €10,000 and €20,000 depending on the community for tokens, refereeing, equipment, etc.

Also tell you that there are many historical teams that with the reduction of subsidies and the COVID crisis are about to disappear, and that is where we would enter.

And where do we get the initial investment money? Well, my idea is a crowdfunding with shares of society and the acceptance of individual people as members of the club, with the right to vote in decisions, etc.

Another option would be to start the team from scratch with this crowdfunding technique, we would only have to buy the access slot to the category that we wanted

————————-

Well, the first thing would be to see what it costs to buy the equipment, right? Because one thing is the budget and the other is the team as such, right? But indeed, I see it as very ideal for crowdfunding, we could tell Valentí about it!

————————-

We have been analyzing the possibilities:1. Create a team from scratch, it has no cost but we start in the lowest division and surely too amateur for the noise we are looking for, and that will be the one that will bring us sponsors.2. Buy a club or its position in the league. This means that you can later change the venue, the name, etc. Here we aim to enter the third division, and the purchase cost is around 100K-150K, plus the cost of maintaining the league, which was the one mentioned above. We know of some equipment that would be willing to sell.

With this, we could look at the crowdfunding issue with Valenti for the initial investment to buy the place and maintenance for the first 3 years.

I am going to make a document with the numbers that this could cost us, and we can sit down and analyze if we continue forward or not. You think?

Totally agree. Buying the equipment through crowdfunding would already be a great communication “impact” as an investment group.

————————-

Hello, very interesting. I think I remember that something was done a few years ago, it was advertised on Facebook for example. I don’t know how it ended and if it succeeded…

————————-

I’ll stay here because I like the idea

Hello namesake! We have continued to analyze and the team that comes closest to what we are looking for was Lorca, who in a game (which they also won haha) left their fans through a platform to choose the changes of a game. in fact, after looking at the news from that time, it had an impact and we can find the news even in top-level sports newspapers.

This only confirms that the idea can be accommodated and that we need to give it shape and push so that we can achieve it. Let’s see if more people come in and vote, or Joan comments on it on her podcast so that it is an idea that grows and we can make it a reality.

For me, the main thing, beyond the equipment, how to set it up and that, is to create that app that allows us to control these things… Does anyone know about the subject to be able to do it?

————————-

Hahaha so good!
I guess creating an app like the one you mention won’t be technically very difficult.

What will be a little more cumbersome will be creating the rules or criteria. We keep commenting

————————-

It freaks me out, I have had a similar idea in mind since a relative told me that in Ireland or Scotland they did it with a team that handled it quite well.

You have nailed almost all my thoughts (especially the one that the coach may feel underestimated, but I imagined it from another point of view, not in making the investment to buy the team or the entity, but through the online platform (be it an app, web, etc…) the entity can be financed in exchange for losing power in decision-making. That is, you do not become the owner of the team but with the platform you get the team to receive a monetary injection from the subscribers of which, the project stays a part of course, and export that idea to any other sports team that is interested.

At the end of the day, it is about motivating the fans and that for a small sum of money, let’s say €10, they can have their real Soccer PC.

As you say, it would be a kind of membership site with different categories (including a free one to bite the bug), and depending on your subscription, your vote is worth more or less.

I would even add small mini crowdfunding within the platform to fix this or that (showers, grass, stands,…) and how to top it off include live viewings of the matches!! Although in this case it would be the home team because the other team doesn’t allow it when you go as a visitor.

Anyway, I’m not a programmer and I don’t know if it would be complex or not to create an app for all this, but maybe with WordPress it’s feasible to start with. All the best

Hello Antonio! Do you have the name of that country’s soccer team? For taking a look at news and such…

I’m also cool with that idea that you mention about an app that is valid for more teams, and that is not just for the club, we can study it. It is true that perhaps at the beginning it will have more impact if you have it rooted in a club, which is also your own, and then if it goes well and more teams are interested, start exporting it.

As for the app, I would love it to be a pure one, but maybe the app can be made as a PWA in wordpress at the beginning, and then improve… It’s all just looking at it!

If you want me to count on you for the idea, tell me, I’m preparing a drive with all the info so we can access it and decide better 🙂

————————-

Hello Rafael, I asked my cousin who was the one who told me years ago, and he doesn’t quite remember what the club was called. I have found this article that I think does not refer to that team you told me about, but that was where the tables turned. If you create the drive you can add me.

————————-

Well, seeing the news, the truth is that it makes me want to continue working on this idea 🙂

Although the end was bad because people were leaving the club, this happened because they saw that in the end they had no real decisions about the club, and it is something that we want to emphasize right here, that they are going to decide the majority.

Give me your email and I’ll add you to the drive 🙂

Exactly, the main thing is to maintain the expectation of those who are contributing, and make them feel part of the decision-making. (Rafael)

I’m in too, if you like.

————————-

Hello! I take advantage of this communication channel to tell you that I have centralized, in the drive that I added to you last week, everything discussed during these weeks with a Business Idea document where I have created an initial version of Canvas, and SWOT, as well as a next steps document.

If you think so, I’ll open a group in slack so that we can hang out, since one of the next steps is for everyone who wants to participate to speak and distribute roles.

In case anyone else wants to sign up (Joan, I’m not looking at anyone… hehe), we’ll give you until Friday for you to provide me with emails and I’ll add you to the drive and slack, and from there we’ll establish the meeting.

Well, as you can see, traction is not lacking in idea. Obviously, the costs of buying a football team, maintaining it, calculating the break-even point, and so on, should be analyzed, but I think that in good company with a crowdfunding campaign, it can have enough diffusion and reach the goal. If you dare, you can fill out the form that I leave you in .

As always, thank you all so much for your five-star ratings on , on , and , subscribing to and for being there, on the other side. Without you this would not be what it is, without you this simply… It would not be!

We’ll hear each other tomorrow, Wednesday, with a success story in the purest Perry Mason style. As always, at 07:07. Until then… Very good morning!
