Adobe buys Frame.io for more than €1,000M to boost its video editing tools – Marketing 4 Ecommerce – Your online marketing magazine for e-commerce

This company was founded in 2014 by Emery Wells Y John Traver, with the intention of offering a solution that could create a more efficient workflow in terms of video creation. This based on the demand and the setbacks that the creators of this content can present, in a constantly growing market.

Beyond its specific tools, the Frame.io platform also offers a very competitive cloud platform, providing faster loading speeds than others such as drop box either Vimeo. For this reason, the American company has managed to raise around 90 million dollars in its history, around €76 millionhand in hand with investors such as accel, FirstMark, SignalFire Y Shasta ventures.

Why Adobe is interested in buying Frame.io

Taking into account the trends of remote work and the importance of digital content, this purchase is considered as a strategic move for Adobe. According to what was announced by the company, it will be carried out for 1,275 million dollars, about 1,088 million euros.

With this purchase, Adobe would be able to integrate a means to offer a collaborative management within its various creative software tools. In this way the company could offer its millions of users a smoother and more complete work experience, managing to further strengthen its position in the market for the creation and editing of multimedia content. As the company explained in its statement, videos are currently the most consumed type of content in the digital world, whether through or streaming, so improving the efficiency in the process of creating this content is a crucial issue for the developers.

“Video workflows are disjointed, with multiple communication tools and channels being used to solicit stakeholder input. Frame.io removes the inefficiencies of video workflows by enabling real-time material upload, stakeholder access and online collaboration in a secure and elegant experience across all surfaces.”

The purchase will materialize during the fourth quarter of this year, after the due regulatory approvals are completed and the specified closing conditions are met. Once the acquisition is closed, both founders of Frame.io will join Adobe, with Wells leading his team and reporting to Scott belskyAdobe Product Manager.
