Banesto launches MasterCard PayPass cards in Spain

contactless payment developed by MasterCard, which is already well known in countries such as the United States and has just landed in Spain with Banesto, one of the Spanish banking entities collaborating in the PayPass project, in which other financial companies such as EURO 6000, Banco Popular Group and BBVA Group.

equipped with PayPass technology, will allow users to make all kinds of purchases just by bringing it closer to the corresponding POS, in case it uses this technology, eliminating the requirement of giving the card to the clerk or passing it through a reader.

MasterCard and Banesto assure that this card is perfect for making payments of small amounts in a very fast and simple way, since operations of up to €20 can be carried out without the need to enter a PIN code or sign purchase receipts.

The cards that integrate the PayPass contactless payment technology incorporate a chip and a radio frequency antenna in the card that, when placed near a compatible POS device, registers the purchase through short wave.

In addition to the use of this new technology, the Banesto 3.0 card is accompanied by an extra security layer that guarantees the safety of purchases made over the Internet, and also the Banesto Security service, which offers the cardholder total protection against fraudulent use of the same by sending text messages alerting you of its use.
