March opens with the constant rise in the prices of the main energies (gas, gasoline, butane, electricity…), with electricity assuming one of the great concerns for . Even more so after the outbreak of the , this fact has led to a greater growth, which is why it is vital, for domestic consumption, to know when it is more profitable to use certain appliances (iron, washing machine, dishwasher, oven…) since its consumption can vary assuming significant savings.
As shown by the data from the (OMIE), the organization that manages the electricity markets of Spain and Portugal and collects their rates, the average price of electricity in Spain during this Tuesday, March 1, is 258.66 euros/ MWh. Very high figures when compared to the price set a year ago, when the MWh cost 49.87 euros.
At what time is electricity cheaper?
Regarding the daily variation, the cheapest sections are concentrated both in the early hours of the day and in the early hours of the afternoon. This leads the section between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to be the most profitable, with the curve at its lowest point with 220.98 euros/MWh.

On the contrary, the central hours of the morning as well as those closest to dusk represent the highest cost, reaching 315.87 euros/MWh between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

Why does the price of electricity vary so much?
This constant increase in prices, as well as its variation, is due to the higher cost of gas in international markets, which is used in combined cycle plants. As these are the most expensive, they are the ones that, in general, mark the price in most hours.
Direct consequence of the conflict with a supplying Russia, the price, which affects the pockets of consumers on the electricity bill.
