How to request the Minimum Vital Income without a digital certificate: you only need a ‘selfie’

Although more than 800,000 people already receive it, one of the objectives of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations is to increase the number of beneficiaries of the Minimum Vital Income, which is close to completing two years since its birth in mid-2020.

For this reason, always with the idea of ​​facilitating the procedures, the request for this benefit is already allowed without the need to be in possession of a digital certificate (), a method of accessing online procedures that often generates problems for certain citizens who are not able to achieve it.

Social Security has explained in its that the request for the Minimum Vital Income can be made electronically even if you do not have a digital certificate, accessing the platform for the benefit procedures, .

On the initial screen that is displayed when entering this link, practical information appears that Social Security recommends reading before clicking on the ‘Request Minimum Vital Income’ section. By clicking on that box, the system will take us to the ‘Application access data’ section.

In this part, you must indicate whether the request is made on your own behalf or on behalf of another person, and then you must fill in the fields:

-Email address. To confirm it, a message will be sent to you with an identification code that must be entered below.

-Name, surnames and ID.

-A photograph to prove our identity, a ‘selfie’ “from the front, from the shoulders up and showing the front face of your DNI/NIE”, according to the agency. It can be done from the device on which the request is made or from another, although in this case you have to read a QR code to be able to capture it from the device with which the photograph will be taken.

-Upload to the web a copy of our DNI on both sides. They must be in .JPG or .PNG format.

After filling in all these fields, the next step is to access the ‘Applicant data’ section. Social Security explains that, at that moment, the citizen must have all the necessary information at hand, since they have 60 minutes to fill in the fields.

You must provide all the data regarding the payment of the benefit, the applicant’s data, the income statement data, other applicant data and a section of additional information that the citizen wishes to attach or that the system requests in the instructions. After that, you must authorize Social Security to process the data and click ‘Accept’.

The system will take you to the section called ‘Summary’, which requires the signature of the person requesting the Minimum Vital Income. To do so, said applicant will be sent a code to the email address indicated. This code must be entered and, subsequently, manually make the handwritten signature in a box provided for this purpose. Then click on ‘Confirm signature’ and after that on ‘Continue’.

A final screen will appear, the ‘Confirmation’ screen, in which a code will appear that you can use for subsequent procedures related to that request. You can also download a receipt for the request for the benefit, which will also be sent to the email provided by the citizen.
