OBS course #6. Streaming and recording – .com

In the sixth class of the OBS course we will see how to configure it and visually leave everything ready for our transmissions and recordings.

We will learn more technical concepts, such as bitrate, CPU usage profiles and how we can optimally configure both x264 and NVENC.
Likewise, it is different if we are going to use OBS Studio for direct or local recordings. We will see the different ideal configurations for each task.

We will also learn how we can stream and record at the same time. Something that we can find very useful if we want to broadcast live, but then we want to upload those directs with high quality to platforms like YouTube. Let’s start!

After having learned how to configure all aspects of OBS Studio and knowing the different ways of recording and streaming, it is not enough to launch ourselves into the world.

We may have found ourselves somewhat confused with so much technical aspect. Don’t panic, review this topic as many times as necessary. And we can better understand these concepts by directly testing the configurations on our machine.

As homework, let’s start by configuring our x264 to see if our PC would be able to handle the full load. And set NVENC to see what image quality we get with much lower performance. I’m not going to ask you to do a live show, but we can prove all of this simply by recording locally. Focus on the “Recording” tab within Output Settings to do all the pertinent tests.
