The Spanish logtech Vonzu closes a round of €1.5M with which to launch into the Latin American market – Marketing 4 Ecommerce – Your online marketing magazine for e-commerce

The Spanish Vonzu, creator of a software for logistics and distribution, has closed an injection of 1.5 million euros from Conexo Ventures. With this investment, The Log Tech, based in Barcelona, ​​plans to continue promoting its operational growth and developing new functionalities and improvements in its services.

Thus, Vonzu will allocate part of the new resources to establish itself in the Spanish market and continue expanding its operations in Portugal, where you already have a local team. In addition, in the coming months the Spanish startup plans to promote its expansion beyond these two markets, entering Centroamerica.

What is Vonzu?

Vonzu was founded in 2018 by Mario Martínez-Jurado and three other former colleagues from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. The company is currently led by Martinez-Jurado and Nacho de Grau, CEO and product manager, respectively. The startup offers a SaaS platform for automate and improve logistics management between retailers and transport operators, with the mission of creating a more integrated, efficient and profitable merchandise distribution. The solution also includes vehicle and delivery management modules, route optimizer, pricing, billing and data analysis.

As they explain from Vonzu, their software «allows brands optimize shipping costs, saving up to 15% of them; improve the visibility and management of the transport companies and delivery people with whom they work. The end customer, for his part, also obtains a more personalized and efficient service, thus improving his shopping experience. For logistics operators, Vonzu helps them improve their gross margin, as it allows them to automate their business rules and optimize their operations inside and outside the warehouse. All this translates into a increased productivity, with an improvement in the rate of deliveries per hourdelivery and a reduction in failed deliveries”.

A record 2021

Although the startup has grown continuously since its launch, it was as a result of the covid crisis that it experienced its great takeoff. Thus, Vonzu is on his way to close the 2021 financial year with a turnover of around one million euros, four times more than the previous exercise. In the first half of this year, the company, with a workforce of more than twenty workers, had already surpassed the barrier of 500,000 euros in turnover.

Until July 2021, the startup had already promoted more than two million operations, between deliveries and collections in the main cities of Spain, Portugal and in other capitals such as Brussels and Mexico City. Every day, with around 750 couriers using its technology, it manages about 10,000 shipments, which means about 800 operations every hour. Thanks to this operating rhythm, the company manages to obtain important data to understand the future of urban distribution of goodsadapt to the new demands of the market and the demands of consumers.

With this, there are already three capital increases that it has received, placing the accumulated total at two million euros. Thus, throughout 2020 the company received €192,000 in a round led by the Swiss fund Pinto Ventures AG and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). A year earlier, the startup supported the first contribution of its partners with an ENISA loan, thus reaching an initial investment of 101,000 euros.

Vonzu also collaborates with players from other sectors, such as urban mobility: since 2020, the company has been working with Acciona Mobilitymotorcycle sharing companyto whom it offers a dynamic optimization of routes for the replacement of electric batteries of motorcycles found in cities.
