Although digital transformation has been boosted in the last year, it is a trend that most companies have been taking for some time. It is the case of Children of Riveraparent company of galician star, which since 2017 has reinforced its commitment to innovation and digitization of its business.

In this way, in the last four years the company has dedicated itself to promoting a model focused on meeting the digital objectives of the different business units that comprise it. All this through the launch of a series of initiatives and tools, which culminated in 2020 with the launch of MOVE: Estrella Galicia – Digital Business & Venturing.

What is MOVE?

Estrella Galicia created MOVE to accelerate the digital development of the brewery. Leadered by JJ SlimCDO of Estrella Galicia and now General Director of MOVE, is proposed as its own independent entity that seeks to keep the company at the forefront of technology.

For this purpose, since its creation last year, MOVE has been at the forefront of different initiatives dedicated to promoting new companies and projects that can act as agents of change within the company’s digitalization and innovation objectives. So we could say that it works from the following four objectives.

What projects make up MOVE

In just one year, this unit has managed to launch new projects to promote eCommerce, business diversification and the integration of the different aspects of the company to digital media. These projects are: the hop, the Laboratory, ELEBA Y The resistance brewery.

The resistance brewery

This is Estrella Galicia’s, which offers a wide range of products, which expands beyond the different varieties of beer that the brand has, incorporating craft products, preserves, special promotions, accessories, kits to accompany drinks and the so-called “experiences”, where we can even find a kit for brewing at home.

TheLab

This project, like La cervecería de la Resistencia, was born within the MOVE ecosystem, and it is an environment for validating and testing innovation projects. This means that in The Lab they develop, measure and scale (within a controlled space) various digital projects promoted by the company and that could have a real impact on some of the company’s different business areas.

Under this initiative, Estrella Galicia has tested more than 22 projects in Spain, and together with The Hop, it has been decisive in the creation of the next MOVE project.

The Hop

is a collaborative entrepreneurship program that has already held three editions in Spain and has managed to internationalize by holding its first edition in . It is an entrepreneurship program for a Open Innovation Ecosystem, where more than 20 startup pilot projects have been developed that could become starting points for the development of new business units within the corporation, or to promote its digital development.

These projects include such curious proposals as Data Beer, an IoT solution that pIt allows monitoring through an app the temperature, pressure and quantity of beer in the barrels of the Estrella Galicia wineries, or Flexsas which has created a network of storage micro-hubs for Estrella Galicia in the states of Bahia and Pernambuco. In this way, the brand has found a way to get its product to the area, optimizing costs and streamlining distribution, thanks to the atomization of storage points. Another of the most relevant projects that went through The Hop is BeerNow, a solution that allows home delivery of cold beer in just 15 minutes, bringing Estrella Galicia closer to the new types of consumers.

ELEBA

As we mentioned, one of the objectives of MOVE is to put into operation new digital business models such as Direct to Customer or HORECA. Precisely in the latter, which refers to the fields of Hospitality, Restaurants Y Cafeterias (HORECA), ELEBA is developed. Since its launch in June this year, it has been tested with 100 hoteliers from Malaga and 100 from A Coruña, with plans to expand it nationwide over the next year. Basically, the function of this project is to offer hoteliers a guide for the successful digitization of their business, contributing to the process of reducing costs, increasing profits and optimizing the consumer experience.

Technological alliances

Apart from the aforementioned projects that have been promoted under the tutelage of MOVE, Estrella Galicia has also dedicated itself in recent years to forming different strategic alliances, which have played a fundamental role in the growth of this new business unit.
